About Us

Mission

Horse and dog

Our purpose is to help reduce the homeless pet population through responsible re-homing of pets. We also provide public education, and resources to help reduce the unwanted and homeless pet population. Additionally, Critters Companion also provides disaster preparedness resources for pets.

Who we are

Founded in March 2003, Critters Companion is a nonprofit organization focused on helping make the world around us a better, happier place for the animals. Even farm animals! With the help of our tireless volunteers, we organize fundraisers, help with community-building events, and give a lot of care to the neglected animals we have saved.

Critters Companion is run completely by volunteers. We are a 501(c)3 no-kill animal welfare organization and all donations are tax-deductible. Donations will go to where they are needed most, which currently is to help offset the costs of vet care, spaying and neutering, and feeding the animals. As of January 2022, medical care for Ruby (pictured below), one of our new rescues from the KY Tornadoes. She has a broken leg that will need surgery.

Adoption Process

Once we have an application, we check your references, complete a background check, and we call your vet. That is completed within 7 business days, as long as it does not fall on a holiday weekend. Most of the time it takes is waiting for replies. If our volunteers run into a time issue, someone from our team will try very hard to contact the potential adopter. Any email responses will come from adopt@critterscompanion.org and phone calls will come from 920-671-4727.
